Many of my clients want the peace-of-mind of the regular, ongoing presence of a bookkeeper. They contract with me for a specific time and day each week, during which I am available whether they need me that week or not. These clients have me updating cash needs projections, sending out invoices and statements, and reconciling accounts. 

Some clients prefer a monthly appointment.   This is typically best for a business with a low volume of transactions, who handle their own invoicing and bill payment. When their bank statement arrives, that means I'm arriving soon, too.  These clients keep a "Lindsay folder" in which they put anything they need me to handle, and anything I need to do my work - bank statements, receipts, payroll ledgers, and so on.  I record transactions, reconcile accounts, and generate financial statements.
